At Neumann University, our work with students seeking teacher certification is grounded in our University's Mission Statement that tells us, "Knowledge, while valuable in itself, is to be used in the service of others." The programs and services of the School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education meet this call to service and do so in the way St. Francis and St. Clare challenged us to serve - "joyfully, cheerfully, and consistently gracious in the Lord."  The program of professional teacher preparation at Neumann University is fully committed to the academic preparation of teachers who are thoroughly trained in their specific academic disciplines as well as the general and specific principles of a pedagogy based on sound and relevant research, intuition, and experience. We strive to develop teachers who are intelligent, knowledgeable, creative, reflective, responsive and committed to the uniqueness of each learner.
