Orientation Part Two
August 21st - August 30th, 2024
August 21, 2024 Day 1
Location: Check-in starts in the Mirenda Center parking lot before students will be directed to their unloading zone of their residence hall. Students with last-minute items remaining on their enrollment checklist will be directed to the Sora Luna Lounge to resolve the items with campus departments after they unload items.
The Parent, Family, and Guest Hospitality Suite will be located in Sora Luna. Parent and alumni staff will be available for questions and information sheets. Light refreshments will be provided.

- Accessibility Services (Bachmann Main Building, Lower Level-Student Success Center): Any students who need to register for accommodations related to their disability are welcome to drop in to complete the required paperwork or discuss their needs with a representative from the Accessibility Services Office.
- Q&A with TRIO-SSS (Bachmann Main Building, Rm. 025): This will allow students to discover how TRIO-SSS can enhance their Neumann experience! Come learn about TRIO-SSS, its history, and how to apply and be involved!
- ITR Help Desk 1:1 Meetings (Bachmann Main Building, Ground Floor at the Help Desk Area): Students and their families can attend a 1-on-1 session with an IT tech. Students can go through the Neumann University account setup and have their IT questions answered.
- Tutoring, Coaching, & the Writing Center (Bachmann Main Building, Rm. 030): Neumann offers comprehensive academic support services. Stop by to learn more about tutoring, the Writing Center, and academic coaching to support students during their time as Knights!
- Career & Professional Development (Bachmann Main Building, Rm. 019): Drop in to meet with the Career & Professional Development team for a 15-minute 1:1 meeting around career planning and resources.
- Business Office Drop-In Hours (Bachmann Main Building, Rm. 104): Stop by the Business Office on the 1st floor of the Bachmann Main Building, Rm. 104, to have questions answered about university tuition & fees, payment plans, and bills.
- Financial Aid Drop-In Hours: Stop by the Financial Aid Office on the 1st Floor of the Bachmann Main Building to have questions answered or a 1:1 meeting to discuss grants, loans, scholarships, and financial aid.
- Undergraduate Nursing Academic Advisement (Bachmann Main Building, Rm. 243): Stop by to speak with an academic advisor for new and transfer admitted students to the nursing major.
- Honors Program Drop-In Session (Bachmann Main Building, Rm. 163):
Whether you are already accepted into the program or are simply curious, stop by for information about the Honors Program and its offerings.

August 22, 2024 Mission Day
Location: Bruder Dining Hall
Breakfast is served in Bruder Dining Hall for students interested in eating on campus.

Please join Dr. Domes and the Mission & Ministry Staff for the Mission Day kick-off and class picture.
Students should wear the Neumann Volunteer t-shirt they recieved at check in. Students should wear clothing that can get dirty and closed toe shoes.

Student's nametag contains group designation, INT section, and classroom location
Moon Group: Students, led by their INT faculty, will join the Sisters of St Francis of Philadelphia for the Legacy tour to learn about the Franciscan History of the Sisters and Neumann University. The tour will be followed by a sweet treat!
The students will also attend their first INT class of the semester.
Sun Group: Students, led by their INT faculty, will serve together at one of the 19 service locations. Transportation is provided.

Fall convocation is a customary event at numerous colleges and universities. Many schools hold an opening convocation at the start of the academic year to welcome both new and returning students. At Neumann University, this ceremony aims to inspire students to pursue success, foster class unity, and connect with the existing academic community while embracing the Franciscan RISES values.

August 24, 2024 Day 4

What is the difference between offering personalized attention vs. boundary-crossing, sexual misconduct, and harassment? How drunk is too drunk to give consent? How accurate is your perception of how others view your actions and communications, both in-person and online?
Campus Outreach programs unleash minds and impact attitudes with powerful personal stories, bystander challenges, and clear definitions of complex policies. Grapple with your perceptions, assumptions, and sensitivities through a series of participatory case studies.
Learn:
- The characteristics of respectful, healthy relationships.
- The legal liability and potential scrutiny of crossing intimate boundaries.
- The difference between harassment vs. flirting and coercion vs. seduction.
Analyze:
- How to clearly communicate with a partner about expectations and boundaries.
- How to intervene and be more proactive in social settings with upstander intervention skills.
- Resources to help someone who has been sexually assaulted or harassed.

August 25, 2024 Day 5

CogWell is a nonprofit organization that empowers college students to address mental health issues. Through their Active Listening workshops, CogWell teaches students how to provide safe spaces for peers who may be struggling with the many stressors of college life.
Sun Group attends the 10 AM session.
Moon Group attends the 11AM session.
Location: Bruder Gym
When you are not at your CogWell session students are invited to craft with the 2024 Orientation Team!
Crafts will include:
- Paint by Number Canvases
- Tye Dye Tees
- Message in a Bottle Manifestation Activity
- Sand Art
- Bracelet Making
- Paint your own wooden car

Students should have a copy of their most current schedule. The Orientation Team will be stationed at various locations throughout the campus to help students locate the classrooms for the fall semester.
Once student find all their classrooms, they are to email their INT professors they have completed the task and will be entered into a raffle to win a prize.

“No-Yes: Katie Koestner’s Story and Healthy Relationships”
Learning Outcomes:
- Role of alcohol and drugs as they impact the ability to give legal consent.
- Risk reduction strategies for sexual assault
- Proactive bystander skills for students and how to intervene in potentially risky situations
- Characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships
- Steps to take if you or a friend has been victimized
- How to report sexual assault and obtain medical attention and psychological support
