Marcel Studies

Submission Guidelines

The editors of Marcel Studies welcome submissions that contribute to a greater understanding of Gabriel Marcel’s work. We are not only interested in scholarship that exclusively focuses on Marcel’s thought and his contribution to the greater philosophical project, but also welcome articles that explore how Marcel’s ideas contribute to fields such as psychology, theology, anthropology, literature and the arts, politics, and economics. We are also interested in articles that place Marcel in dialogue with specific figures from these traditions, both past and present. The journal also publishes book reviews, translations, and other material of interest to Marcel scholars.

All submissions should be sent as Word email attachments to the Editor, Brendan Sweetman, at brendan.sweetman@rockhurst.edu. Marcel Studies is a peer-reviewed journal. All articles should be prepared for blind review, should contain a 100-150 word abstract, and should aim for a word length of between 3,000-10,000 words (not including footnotes). Blind Review: All identifying information should be removed from the essay and sent in a separate document that contains the author’s name, email, phone number, and Institutional affiliation.

Published articles will be expected to conform to journal guidelines, and The Chicago Manual of Style. Articles are to be submitted in English. The author is responsible for ensuring permission to use all materials within the article that are subject to copyright protections.
