Leadership development

At Neumann University, the Knights Lead program facilitated by the Office of Student Engagement & Orientation empowers student leaders while supporting their transition and growth while in college. The program consists of a variety of programming opportunities throughout the year, specialized training for student leaders in clubs and organizations, mentorship from the Leadership Scholars cohort, and opportunities to serve the Neumann University community through the Knight Leader Common Application. The Knight Leader Common Application provides students the opportunity to apply for key leadership roles across the Division of Students Affairs and Mission & Ministry through one application. Information is shared with students via email at the start of the fall and spring semesters. Remember, leadership isn’t just about formal roles—it starts with the relationships you build with others.

KNIGHTS LEAD PROGRAM

Knights Lead is a co-curricular programming model that provides flexible offerings, including tabling activities, programs, and an annual leadership conference to help students self-discover the connection we have with each other and grow as leaders. There are four themes covered in the Knights Lead program:

  • Knights Lead-Others: Programmatic offerings focus on ethical decision-making, open and honest dialogues, collaboration, and communication. Program themes include civility, shared purpose, reflective attitudes and direction, and inclusive perspectives.
  • Knights Lead- Community: Programmatic offerings focus on motivating others, critical thinking, meaningful reflection, and embracing service-learning. Program themes include environmental stewardship, social responsibility, role modeling, and service.
  • Knights Lead-Creator: Programmatic offerings focus on examining and clarifying personal beliefs, values articulation, and reverence and awareness of cultural differences.
