January Orientation 2025
All new students starting at Neumann University in January are required to attend Spring Orientation to prepare for a successful first semester as a Knight. New students, along with their families and guests, will participate in new student orientation on Friday, January 17, 2025. In the event of inclement weather, all students will be required to attend the virtual orientation.We look forward to welcoming you to the Neumann community and supporting you as you begin your journey as a Knight!
Student Engagement & Orientation Resources
JANUARY ORIENTATION SCHEDULE
Friday, January 17th
New students and their families can check-in for the orientation program in the Mullen Communication Center Lobby. Participants will receive their name tags and schedules for the day while meeting their orientation leaders.
All attendees will attend the opening welcome session in the Student Multi-Purpose Hall located in the Mullen Communication Center. Remarks by members of University leadership.
All participants will attend the session with the Learning Commons staff members to learn more about academic resources available to support students in overcoming common challenges in their first semester. Resources covered include Accessibility Services, tutoring, the Writing Center, Career & Professional Development, and more! The session takes place in the Student Multi-Purpose Hall in the Mullen Communication Center.
All participants will attend a session with their academic school's dean and academic advisors. Orientation Leaders will escort the participants from their last session to the appropriate room for their session.
School of Business: McNichol Room, Bruder Life Center
School of Nursing & Health Sciences: Rooms 129, 130, and 138 in the Bachmann Main Building
School of Social Sciences, Humanities, & Education: Room 107 in the Mullen Communications Center
Participants will have the opportunity to eat lunch with members of university leadership and the orientation leader team in the dining hall, Bruder Cafe, located in the Bruder Life Center. New students and their families can also visit the book store on the lower level of the Bachmann Main Building.
Students will be broken into smaller groups with their Orientation Leaders and will participate in two sessions during this time period. The first session is facilitated by the Counseling Center team, focusing on mental health resources for students at Neumann. The other session is a series of activities led by the Orientation Leaders to help students build a connection with each other. The session will take place in the Student Multi-Purpose Hall in the Mullen Communication Center.
Family members and guests of our new students will attend a Student Services Panel with representatives from Student Health, Residence Life, Student Success & Retention, Campus Safety, and more to learn about the different supports available to students at Neumann. The session is in the McNichol Room in the Bruder Life Center.
Participants (students, families, and guests) will be divided into small groups to rotate through two sessions. The first session, Mission & Ministry Presents, is hosted by the Division of Mission & Ministry and includes an overview of the institution's history and mission. The second session is a campus tour where students will also have the opportunity to get their student IDs. The session will start in the Student Multi-Purpose Hall in the Mullen Communication Center.
Participants will engage with various campus resources in the Bruder Gym in the Bruder Life Center.
New residential students can pick up the key to their room and move items into their on-campus housing. Resident Assistants and Residence Life staff will be available to assist. Check-in will take place in the Residence Life Office on the ground level of O'Neill Hall.
