Bachelor of Arts in Psychology – Features
- Adheres to all guidelines from the American Psychological Association.
- All psychology majors are required to complete internships.
- Class sizes are small — most are 15–25 students, with some seminars as small as five students.
- All full-time professors hold Ph.D.s from recognized programs.
- All students are required to complete a course with a service-learning component.
- Students can elect to take a 4+1 track to earn both a BA in Psychology and an MS in Forensic Psychology in five years.
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology – Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of major concepts, theories, empirical findings, historical trends, and basic scientific research methods in the field of psychology.
- Analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information using critical thinking and skeptical inquiry; and communicate scientific ideas effectively and clearly both in written and oral formats using APA style.
- Engage in self-reflection and recognize personal, professional, and intellectual development to embrace life-long learning and discern career choices. In doing so, apply psychological principles and the principles and values of the Catholic Franciscan Tradition to personal, social, and organizational issues.
- Demonstrate ethical leadership, global perspectives, teamwork, and engagement in communities for the common good through service learning experiences, ethical reasoning, and engagement with diverse perspectives.

The psychology major requires 59 credits of coursework, including 44 credits of required courses and 15 credits of psychology electives. Required courses include foundational psychological courses as well as introductions to topics like developmental psychology, psychopathology, multicultural psychology and more.
All students also complete a senior seminar, in which you’ll synthesize the skills you obtained during your studies to conduct a research project and report your results.
