Mission
The Writing Center at Neumann University is a friendly and welcoming environment for our diverse population of student scholars. We are a student-centered place of growth, and, through conversation and mutual collaboration, we aim to help students develop their writing process and improve their writing skills over time.
All writers, new, developing, and established, can visit the Writing Center to brainstorm, plan, draft, and revise their writing or to simply talk through assignments, ideas, and feedback. During each session, our trained undergraduate and professional writing tutors serve as active and engaged readers, offering thoughtful responses and guidance to questions and concerns. Tutors can address anything from formatting to organization and development, sentence-level errors, and more. If a student is interested in proofreading and editing, our staff can show them strategies to find, fix, and avoid common mistakes in the future.
Our goal is to build a community of confident, knowledgeable, and responsible writers.
Services
The Writing Center offers three different types of appointments:
- In-person - Face-to-face in the Writing Center
- Drop Box – Document upload & review – no need to be present
- Live Online – Accessible, remote session with a shared whiteboard space
Students who are interested in meeting with a tutor regularly can also request a Writing Partnership, where the student meets with their preferred tutor on a weekly basis for the duration of the semester.
