Proxy Access

The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education, financial and academic records.

FERPA limits release of student record information without the student's explicit consent. This consent from Neumann University is known as providing Proxy Access to parents/guardians or others.

This process is called granting "proxy access", and those given permission are referred to as a "proxy."

Proxies can view information in the Self-Service system. This information can also be communicated verbally from Neumann University Offices when Proxy Permissions are granted.

Neumann University Students can select to grant access for their proxies to all areas of the University by selecting “Allow Complete Access.”

Neumann University students can also give specific access to others to access information about their tuition/fees, financial bills, financial aid ledgers, loans and all areas revolving around financial access. General Access and notification access can be given to include all areas of the University outside of finances. Proxy access can also be given to view Academic Grades.

Students commonly grant parents, guardians, or spouses proxy access to their personal information. But multiple proxies can also be set up, each with different access to different information.
