Fall 2024 Update
Library Space:
Neumann university library is your spot this spring for getting things done in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Visitors to the library will have access to a number of seats, most of which are first come first served and located mostly in either designated Quiet Independent Study or Conversational Group Study Zones. Additional seating for Neumann Students, Faculty, and Staff can be found at our computer stations or as part of our Group Study Rooms. Neumann Students, Faculty, and Staff may reserve Group Study Rooms online up to one week in advance.
Outside guests may be permitted to use the Library, but must sign in at the Main Library Desk and present photo identification.
We ask all library users to partner with us in keeping healthy! Please make use of the cleaning products provided to sanitize workstations upon arrival. Masks are not required at this time, but are encouraged indoors and when gathering in groups.
Group Study Rooms:
Four (4) Group Study rooms are available for Student, Faculty, and Staff use. Each room accommodates up to four (4) people at a time. Groups are encouraged to use their best judgment and guidance from the university and CDC with regard to vaccinated and non-vaccinated people working closely together in a confined space.
Room reservations are required; click the “Book a Room” button for more details and to reserve your room.
Computing:
Public computers are available for Neumann Students, Faculty, and Staff to use on a first-come basis.
Library guests may be permitted to use computing terminals at the discretion of Library staff; library staff must sign guests onto machines and Neumann community members are prioritized for their use.
Guests may not be permitted to access licensed digital collections and are not permitted to print at this time.
Printing:
A print/ copy/ scan center has been created to reduce overall print costs and limit noise pollution in the Library space. Helpful handouts for new users can be found near all public library computer stations and nearby to the copier/ scanner/ printers. Print-jobs can be retrieved from the Library machines or any other Find-Me printer locations (Open Lab, Mailroom, RAB 1st and 3rd floors). All print-jobs will need user-authorization, so please have your Neumann ID handy.
Printing is not permitted for library visitors without Neumann-issued log-in credentials.
Check-outs:
Check-outs for physical materials are done using a Neumann-issued ID card. A new Library Operating System was installed July 2022 to allow our community easier exploration of resources and also better manage check-outs, searches, and inter-library loan activity. New and returning library users may require intervention from library staff to activate these accounts.
Most circulating materials check-out for 28 days and email reminders are sent to encourage prompt returns. While the library does not assess late fines, users may incur replacement costs or a Hold to university accounts for outstanding items.
Returns:
All returns to the library should be deposited in the book drop outside our main doors.
Reserves:
Faculty should contact Lisa Schilling to arrange for placement of course reserves schillil@neumann.edu

Even when Library staff are not monitoring chat, our very own Neumann Chatbot will help as best they can or have a human member of our team follow up as soon as they can.
Interlibrary loan:
Inter-library loan services are provided for current members of the Neumann community. Library staff are often successful in securing loans this way, but please note that a request cannot be guaranteed. Please see the Inter-Library Loan page for further details.
Research & Information Literacy Instruction:
Information Literacy is a set of abilities enabling individuals to recognize when information is needed and then locate, evaluate, and effectively use said information.
It is important now more than ever to have information literacy skills to help determine what information is accurate and trustworthy on the internet, on social media, and beyond. Information Literacy allows for critical evaluation of sources so research is accurate and trustworthy.
Please contact Michael Pace to schedule research instruction pacem@neumann.edu.
