Neumann University is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Director of Career & Professional Development to join our team. The Assistant Director will support the Director of Career & Professional Development in providing career counseling, overseeing social media and student engagement strategies, managing career-related programs, and administering the internship approval process. This is a full-time role with opportunities to lead initiatives, supervise student workers, and enhance student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Career Counseling and Coaching: Provide one-on-one career guidance to students and alumni on topics such as career exploration, internship and job search strategies, resume and interview preparation, and graduate school applications.
- Publicity and Promotion: Work with the Director to develop a creative and sustainable student engagement strategy. Manage the Center’s social media presence (e.g., Instagram) and website content, and promote the Knight Career Network (Symplicity) to increase student engagement.
- Student Engagement: Lead initiatives like the First Year INT program to introduce career development services to new students. Develop and implement workshops, events, and presentations on career-related topics.
- Internship Program Support: Approve internships for credit and manage the internship cycle. Track student appointments, engagement, and technology usage.
- Supervision: Hire, train, and supervise student Career Ambassadors (work-study students).
- Administrative Tasks: Track office metrics, appointments, and engagement levels. Assist the Director with various administrative duties to ensure smooth operations of the department.
- University Mission: Promote and embody the Catholic Franciscan values in all student and community interactions.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in career counseling, student development, or a related field preferred. A combination of a bachelor's degree and relevant experience is acceptable.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a university career center or equivalent experience in career counseling or internship programs.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience managing social media platforms and leveraging technology to enhance career development services.
