STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION

The Student Government Association (SGA) is an established student organization that serves as the governing board of the undergraduate student body and strives to create and support activities that deepen a sense of community. All undergraduate students are considered members of SGA. The executive cabinet and leadership team are elected representatives by the undergraduate student body who represent students. Elections take place during fall and spring semesters.  a standing committee of the Student Government Association (SGA). Students interested in getting involved in SGA can email sga@neumann.edu, speak with Student Engagement & Orientation staff, or stop by the SGA table at the Involvement Fair each semester. Neumann's Student Government Association is member of the American Student Government Association (ASGA).

What is the purpose of SGA?

The purpose of SGA is to:

  • Support and enhance the mission and values of Neumann University;
  • Serve as the voice of the undergraduate student body;
  • Advocate and serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and administration at Neumann University in order to enrich the quality of student life;
  • Uphold the SGA Constitution and follow the procedures set forth within it;
  • Support the social, cultural, spiritual, and educational activities of Neumann University;
  • Keep students informed on what is happening on campus.

What is the Executive Cabinet on SGA?

The Executive Cabinet presides over the general assembly. Each member of the Executive Cabinet serves as a chair to a council within SGA.  Executive Cabinet positions are:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Executive Director for Knights Programming Board (KPB)
  • Executive Director of Finance
  • Executive Secretary
  • Chief Justice

What is the Legislative Leadership Team?

The Legislative Leadership Team serves as the voice of SGA members, relaying any problems, questions, and/or concerns students may have to the Executive Cabinet. Legislative Leadership serves with the Executive Cabinet to accomplish committee goals. Members of the Legislative Leadership Team are:

  • Senator for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEIB)
  • Senator for Leadership Formation
  • Senator for Publicity & Media
  • Senator for Service
  • Senator for Athletics & Recreation
  • Senator for Student Club & Organizations
  • Senator for Commuter Students
  • Senator for Residential Students
  • Senior Class Representative (2)
  • Junior Class Representative (2)
  • Sophomore Class Representative (2)
  • First-Year Class Representative (4)

What is the General Assembly?

The General Assembly of SGA are representatives from each SGA funded club and organization, the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the Club Sports & Advisory Counci, and an at-large member from each academic school of the University to be appointed by the academic deans.


What are the qualifications to hold a position with SGA?

All SGA Executive Cabinet and Legislative Leadership members must meet the following qualifications at the time of elections and through the duration of their roles:

  • Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing
  • Must have at least a 2.5 gpa
  • Must be a full-time undergraduate student

In addition to these qualifications, individuals must meet all deadlines established to participate in elections.

SGA meets bi-weekly on Wednesdays at 5pm in the SMPH in the Mullen Communications Center. The first open meeting is Wednesday, September 18th.
