“A beautiful testimony” -- comments from the evaluations
On February 2, 2010, five Neumann professors presented the following statements of their core beliefs about education to faculty, staff and administration at the Spring Faculty Development Day Workshop. Our theme was Core Values in Teaching & Learning.
Each presenter prepared their remarks based on the popular NPR series called
This I Believe, started by Edward R. Murrow in the 1950s. The original invitation from Murrow asks the following:
This invites you to make a very great contribution: nothing less than a statement of your personal beliefs, of the values which rule your thought and action. Your essay should be about three minutes in length when read loud, written in a style as you yourself speak, and total no more than 500 words . . . |
The presentations were awe-inspiring and revealing of the core values that inform the culture of learning here in the Neumann community. We offer these texts that you too may share in their heartfelt reflections and perhaps join them in the discernment and discovery of your own core beliefs.
