In 2011, there were more than 2.6 million breast cancer survivors in the US. One in eight women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer over her lifetime. Those touched by this disease ring out through every community. The Neumann University community is no different.
That is why in 2005 Janet and Joseph Massey, faculty members at Neumann University established the Janet Massey Breast Cancer Survivor Scholarship in honor of Janet, a breast cancer survivor. The scholarship is designed to help raise awareness of breast cancer. It is awarded to a student who has been or whose family member has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Now, the time has come for the Massey Breast Cancer 5k run-1K fun walk to benefit the Janet Massey Breast Cancer Survivor Scholarship. The event is Sunday, October 21, 2012. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. at Ridley Creek State Park, Pavilion 17, 351 Gradyville Road, in Newtown Square, PA.
