Neumann Opens the "Career Management Series"

 

Neumann University launches its Career Management Series, 12 workshops designed to help professionals adapt, learn, and grow in their work environment, on September 25.  The workshops, which are free and open to the public, will run throughout the 2012-2013 academic year.

 

The fall semester begins with Managing Conflict in the Workplace on Tuesday, September 25, from 6:30-8 p.m. in Room 130 of Bachmann Main Building (BMB).  This workshop introduces different perspectives used to understand and assess conflict that occurs in the workplace.  Participants will learn about common causes for conflict and the role of managers in preventing it.

 

On Thursday, September 27, from 6-7 p.m. in Room G-7 of BMB, the program will be Using Library Resources to Your Full Advantage. Participants will gain knowledge to help with research papers and projects, including how to find specific scholarly sources.

 

Andy Teach, author of From Graduation to Corporation and former entertainment industry executive, will speak on making the transition from college to the world of business on Wednesday, October 10, from 6-7 p.m. in the Schmidt Multipurpose Room. 

 

To get tips on resumes and cover letters, the workshop on Tuesday October 30, from 6:30-8 p.m. covers topics on common mistakes, formatting “dos and don’ts,” electronic submissions and how to write a cover letter.

 

To finish out the fall semester, Use of Technology in Presentations on Thursday November 1, from 6-7 p.m. in Room G-7 of BMB teaches the basics of Microsoft PowerPoint, as well as how to import videos, photos, tables and spreadsheets into presentations. On Tuesday, November 27, from 6:30-8 p.m. in Room 130 of BMB Linked In to Success discusses a professional social networking presence and the advantages of LinkedIn for networking and professional development.
