The Cultural Arts Forum continues its 2012-2013 season at Neumann University with Holiday Lights - Broadway Nights on Thursday, December 13, at 1:30 p.m.
Join the rags-to-riches duo that features Don Kawash, an acclaimed Ragtime pianist, and the bass baritone, Randy Shupp, as they bring a performance brimming with holiday season music. Selections range from Broadway and movie tunes to religious and secular favorites. Songs include everything from classical O Holy Night and O Chanukah to A Christmas Carol, Tom Lehrer’s satirical expose of Christmas commercialism.
Local freelance writer, Ruth Rovner, raves, “Don Kawash and Randy Shupp are musicians who turn back the clock with their performances. They're drawn to the classics of American popular music: the ragtime music of Scott Joplin, the timeless songs of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers and other musical greats. And they're bringing that music to audiences who especially appreciate it. They've met with responsive audiences wherever they perform."
For 37 years, the Cultural Arts Forum has been sponsoring events to support adult women students at Neumann University through the endowed scholarship named in honor of the founder of the Forum, Margaret Mary Kearney. Since its founding in 1970, the Forum has presented more than 240 events and seminars.
Come out to see this duo create a Winter Wonderland, listen for those Silver Bells and wish for a White Christmas. The performance will be in the Meagher Theatre, located in the campus Life Center. Tickets are $7 for general admission. Admission is free for Neumann students/staff and Cultural Arts Forum Members. Please contact Nicholas DiMarino at 610-558-5626 for more information.
