The Neumann University Players will present The Wedding Singer March 17-20, in the Fred P. Meagher Theatre in the Thomas A. Bruder Jr. Life Center at Neumann. Mike Conover stars as Robbie Hart and Ashley O’Connor takes on the role of Julia Sullivan in the performance.
In The Wedding Singer it’s 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party, until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Based on the popular 1998 movie starring Adam Sandler, The Wedding Singer looks to find what can bring us together, even while we try to push each other away.
The cast includes 15 students from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. The Neumann Players is a company of students, faculty, staff, and alumni under the artistic direction of faculty member Terence Gleeson, who founded the group in 1984. The Players produce two or more fully-staged played annually selected from a wide range of drama, including Shakespeare, musicals, and contemporary plays.
Performance dates are Thursday, March 17-Saturday, March 19, at 8 p.m. with a matinee Sunday, March 20, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission; $5 for students (any age with ID), seniors, and Neumann faculty/staff/administration. For tickets and information contact the University Players Box Office at 610-361-5455.
