Four days before Christmas, the University administration turned the tables on the service workers, who play such vital roles in day-to-day campus functions, and served them breakfast in the Great Hall. Approximately 100 people from Allied Barton, Aramark and Sodexo relaxed at the Outsource Christmas Breakfast, an annual event that originated about 14 years ago.
Vice Presidents Henry Sumner, Gerard O'Sullivan, Dennis Murphy, David Brownlee, and Joseph Gorman donned aprons and caps to serve up eggs, bacon and home fries while Sisters Linda DeCero, Patricia Hutchison and Marguerite O'Beirne (another VP) poured fresh orange juice for the crowd. Sr. Mary Ann McCarthy roamed the hall with a camera and took the photos that appear on this page. The guests also received toys, cookies, stuffed animals or games that they could share with youngsters in their families.
The event is firmly rooted in the Franciscan tradition of service. According to Sr. Marguerite, "It is an opportunity for the administration to serve those who serve us all year."
