Neumann University will hold its 12th Annual Scholarship Gala on Saturday, April 2, from 7 p.m.-12 a.m. at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia. The Scholarship Gala has raised more than $1.1 million in the past 11 years for student scholarships.
The Gala, which benefits student scholarships at
Neumann, will honor Pennsylvania State Senator Dominic Pileggi with the Presidential Humanitarian Award.
Pileggi was elected Majority Leader by his colleagues in November 2006, 2008, and again in 2010. He has represented the Ninth Senatorial District, which includes portions of Chester and Delaware Counties, since winning a special
election in October 2002. As Majority Leader, Senator Pileggi determines legislative priorities, manages the Senate calendar, builds consensus
on legislation to be voted, and serves as one of the chief negotiators of the annual state budget. He chairs the Rules and Executive Nominations Committee and is a member of the Appropriations Committee.
He led the effort to rewrite the state’s 50 year-old Open Records Law, making most government records open to citizens. He also effectively led opposition to numerous tax increases and succeeded in securing control over state spending. Sen. Pileggi also played a key role in shaping substantial environmental and public health legislation, including the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Fund, the Water and Sewer Assistance Act, and the Clean Indoor Air Act. He has received numbers honors and awards reflecting his commitment to public service. Senator Pileggi is a lifelong resident of the City of Chester. He and his wife Diana have three children.
The Simeone Foundation showcases the collection of racing cars Dr. Frederick Simeone assembled over a span of 50 years. The Museum contains more than 60 of the rarest and most significant racing sports cars ever built.
