Catholic Leadership Institute (CLI) will present the 2010 Award for Outstanding Catholic Leadership to Dr. Rosalie Mirenda and three other national Catholic leaders at a reception and dinner to be held Friday, November 12, at the Drexelbrook, in Drexel Hill, PA.

CLI describes Dr. Mirenda as a respected and visionary educator. Since she became president of Neumann in 1996, the total enrollment has tripled and annual and capital giving has increased more than 30 percent. The newest building on campus, the Mirenda Center for Sport, Spirituality and Character Development, opened in October of 2009 and was named in honor of her dedication and commitment to the University. Among her awards and distinctions, Dr. Mirenda has received the Pontifical Honor of the Cross from the Vatican, the Presidential Medallion from the University of Costa Rica and Educator of Year Award.

CLI developed the Awards for Outstanding Catholic Leadership in 2000 to recognize people in the Catholic Church whose exemplary leadership in the family, the workplace, the community and the Church has been inspired by their Catholic faith,” said Timothy C. Flanagan,  founder and chair of Catholic Leadership Institute.

“Dr. Mirenda is a savvy and bold leader. It is a privilege for CLI to honor and lift up the great work that she has done for the community and the world.”

Catholic Leadership Institute will also honor:

  • Mother Mary Assumpta Long, OP – Co-Foundress and Prioress General of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist

  • Msgr. Robert (Bob) McDermott – Founder of the St. Joseph's Carpenter Society and Romero Center and Vicar General, Diocese of Camden

  • Matthew Kelly –Bestselling Author and Internationally Renowned Speaker
