The Office of Cultural Programming at Neumann University will present Kirk Brown in “The King’s Gardener: John Bartram in Philadelphia” on Thursday, November 12, at 1:30 p.m. in the Fred P. Meagher Theatre in the Thomas A. Bruder Jr. Life Center.
Brown will disclose the life and times of John Bartram, America’s first botanist, committed traveler, collector, and father of the nursery industry. Dressed as Bartram, Brown will welcome attendees with the horticultural history of America as it began in Philadelphia and Penn’s Woods. Bartram is credited with reforesting most of the English countryside with new “American” plant introductions.
General Admission is $7 and free for Cultural Arts Forum members. For tickets or more information, contact the Office of Cultural Programming at 610-558-5626.
