The Journal of Neumann’s First-Year Knight Writers represents quality writing by
students in the first-year Core writing program. The voice of first-year students is respected and celebrated. Selections show the range of writing across sections of English 101, Rhetoric and Writing I, and English 102, Rhetoric and Writing II. The Journal of Neumann’s First-Year Knight Writers is intended to be a resource for students and faculty members in Neumann‘s first year program and at the University.
Selections included in the journal may engage students and instructors in discussions about features of good writing in relation to the writer‘s intentions and the intended audience‘s expectations for understood conventions that satisfy certain contexts. These submissions are intended not only to engage readers in reflecting upon each writer‘s intended meaning, but also to inspire other writers to engage in active planning and pre-writing processes, revising, and editing.
